A short, plain-English list of what we expect from everyone on the platform. If you can't get behind these, we're probably not the right home for you.
Be on time. Bring focus. Sessions are short, make them count. If you have to cancel, give as much notice as you can. Where possible, at least 24 hours.
If a mentee asks something you don't know, say so. If something isn't working in a session, raise it. Mentors aren't expected to have all the answers, just to be straight about which ones they have.
Don't guarantee auditions, agents, sales, jobs, or any other outcome. Share what worked for you, what you've seen work for others, and be clear when something is opinion. Outcomes belong to the mentee, not the mentor.
Sessions are 1-on-1 and private. Don't share what's said in a session without consent, including names, work-in-progress, or personal context. The trust mentees place in you is the whole product.
Payments run through us so both sides are protected. Don't ask mentees to pay you directly, off-platform, or through other channels. If you bring a mentee in from outside, route their bookings through your profile.
Mentees are paying for your attention on the session topic. Don't use the time to pitch unrelated courses, paid newsletters, products, or services. Recommending a useful resource is fine. Selling one isn't.
We don't tolerate harassment, discrimination, unwanted approaches, or behaviour that makes someone feel unsafe, in sessions, in messages, or anywhere on the platform. If something happens, tell us. If we see it, we act. Repeat or serious violations end the account.
Mentors aren't obliged to accept every mentee. Mentees aren't obliged to book again. If a conversation isn't right, for any reason, you can decline the booking, end the relationship, or step out. If you need help navigating that, contact us.
The value you offer is in the work you do now and the perspective you've built from it. Mentors are expected to be active working creatives, not retired, not coasting on a past credit. If you step away from your craft for a long stretch, let us know.
Mentees can leave a review on your profile after a session. We don't edit them. We don't take them down because they're critical. If you think a review is unfair or breaks these guidelines, contact us and we'll look at it.
When you use CreativeMentor, as a mentor, mentee, or just browsing, you agree to the following. We’ve kept it short and human, so we don’t bury anything important.
Mentees pay upfront when they book a session. We hold the payment until the session is completed. After the mentor marks the session complete in their portal, we transfer the mentor’s share (their rate, less our 15–20% platform fee) to their Stripe Connect account. Payouts arrive in the mentor’s bank account on Stripe’s standard schedule, usually weekly. Tax documents are generated automatically.
We add a fee on top of the mentor’s rate, which the mentee pays. The mentor receives the full rate they set. If your session is £100, the mentee pays around £115–£120, and the mentor receives £100. We don’t charge mentors a subscription, a listing fee, or a charge for unbooked weeks. We only earn when a session books and completes.
If the mentee cancels more than 24 hours before the session, they get a full refund. Between 2 and 24 hours: 50% refund. Less than 2 hours: no refund. If the mentor cancels, the mentee always gets a full refund regardless of timing. Refunds appear on the original card within 3–10 business days depending on the bank.
If the mentee no-shows without cancelling, the session is treated as completed and the payment goes to the mentor. If the mentor no-shows, the session is treated as cancelled by the mentor and the mentee gets a full refund. We may pause an account that no-shows repeatedly.
We look for working creatives with real industry credits and the ability to talk usefully about craft. We don’t require a famous resume or a set number of years, just real, current work and a generous attitude. Applications are reviewed by a human within 3 to 5 business days. We may decline applications without giving a detailed reason, and we may revoke mentor access if conduct or quality concerns arise after approval.
Anyone over 18 with a verified email and a valid payment card. Mentees agree to show up on time, be honest about what they want to work on, and treat mentors with the respect they’d want themselves. We may pause accounts that violate these expectations.
After each session, mentees can leave a public review on the mentor’s profile. Reviews are owned by the mentee, displayed verbatim, and not edited by us. We’ll only remove a review if it breaks these guidelines (harassment, doxxing, content unrelated to the session). Mentors can’t pay to remove or hide reviews. We don’t allow fake reviews from either side.
If something went wrong with a session, a no-show, a session that didn’t happen as described, conduct concerns, contact us within 7 days of the booking. We’ll review what happened, talk to both sides, and decide on a fair outcome. That may include a refund, a credit, a removal of a session from the mentor’s record, or, in serious cases, removing an account from the platform.
We store your account info (name, email, profile content), booking history, payment records (via Stripe, we never see your card number), and the intake notes mentees submit before sessions. We don’t sell your data, we don’t target you with ads from other companies, and we don’t read your session content. You can ask us to export or delete your data at any time by emailing us. Payment records are kept as long as required by tax law (usually 7 years).
We connect mentors and mentees. We don’t provide professional, legal, medical, or therapy advice. Anything you hear in a session is one person’s perspective, not a guarantee, recommendation, or endorsement by CreativeMentor. We’re not responsible for the outcomes of a session (your audition went well or didn’t, the script got picked up or didn’t), or for off-platform interactions you choose to pursue with mentors or mentees you met here.
You can close your account any time by emailing us. We’ll cancel any upcoming bookings (mentee gets a refund if the mentor cancels, standard refund tiers if the mentee cancels), pay out anything owed to a mentor that’s already been earned, and remove your profile within 30 days. We retain payment records as required by tax law.
We’ll update these terms occasionally, if we change refund policy, fee structure, or anything that affects what you signed up for, we’ll email everyone with an account at least 14 days before the change takes effect. If you don’t agree with a change, close your account before the effective date and we’ll honour the old terms for outstanding bookings.
